Recovery helps to recover objects that were looted during the Nazi regime and
increase public awareness about this subject. Services
offered at Sage Recovery include: Research
and recovery of looted art for both individuals and institutions Sage
works with families, museums and government agencies to help find objects that
were looted by the Nazis and trace the provenance of objects with gaps in their
ownership history. Sage works in conjunction with several partner organisations
which share information and expedite research. Digitisation
of records pertaining to Nazi looting Sage
Recovery posts online resources to help those researching looted cultural property.
Several records have been digitised in conjunction with the Trace Looted Art.
Most of these records are publicly available, but they have either not been digitised
or are not available in a single place. Sage Recovery has been working with Trace
to create the largest online database of Nazi-Era looted art. Several museums
and government agencies have posted their information on the Trace Looted Art
website. Individuals
seeking objects are invited to add their information as well. All objects are
checked against objects going up for sale with dealers or auction houses, so the
database offers the best chance of finding an object if it was looted. Registering
information is free of charge for claimants, museums, and government agencies.
